They never skip a beat. Family style portions of excellent old school Italian food in a super nostalgic atmosphere. Some of the best menu items aren't actually on the menu...(pork cutlet francese, hot pepper ravioli). I prefer the chicken Murphy over the chicken savoy, but both are very good. Shrimp beeps appetizer are a must.

This is a small cozy place where enjoy going with my husband without planning our visit, it is a spare of the moment “Let's go to Belmont Tavern” Our favorite is EVERYTHING! I know not much help there but honestly, everything is so delicious. I believe is what I like about this place.

This is my hubby's favorite chicken savoy place. He's been eating here for over 20 years. Service is always great! Food is always on point! My picky 9 yr old luvs the Spaghetti! Better get there at the right time b/c this place is always in high demand!!!

Great place, Chicken Savoy, and a great bowl of beeps! The ambiance was super retro, it was like '70 or early '80. The food is good, the service is actually expedited, great and the food makes it up. One of the must visit places. Oh by the way, they do not take cards. Carry cash or Venmo.

*** We ordered HALF of the menu *** as a group of 6, and nothing at this place was good! Clams Oreganata smelled old and you had 6 tiny raw half shells, Clam Cocktail Half Shell had 5 half tiny shells, "Marco" Scungilli smelled like portapotty urine, Hot Peppers were boring. Cavatelli with pot cheese was the only food that was decent, but bland, 3-4 stars. Eggplant too. Belmont's Famous Shrimp "Beeps" also 3 stars. You can make all of these better at home. Stretch's Famous "Chicken Savoy" was the DRYEST chicken that I have ever tasted in my life and had balsamic that didn’t compensate for the dryness but only made it bitter. Chicken Murphy was boring but huge portions, which was nice. Scrod was extremely sour. We had to wash down the food with espresso at the end.

What a wonderful experience! Met I think were the owners (nice lady with a cane and her husband who went to flight school in Texas). She was adorable and made us feel very welcome. Our server suggested great food choices and the food kept on coming! I think we had like 10 dishes come out family style. The service was great and the food was yummy! They really made the night special as we were visiting from Dallas. I definitely would go back next time I'm in jersey!

So.. NJ food people know this place and what to expect. I was intrigued based on great friends recommendations. I looked forward to the food. Unfortunately it was terrible. The signature chicken dish was dry and overcooked. The cavatelli with pot cheese?? What pot cheese? Even the diners at the table next to us said it was not very good. They recommended adding some of the table cheese in the bottle(is that even real cheese? and pepper flakes to find flavor.) We tried to fill up on the escarole salad that comes with(good dressing), bread and two servings of shrimp beeps. An experience not to be repeated or recommended. Chalk it up to "you never know unless you try." Done.
